Allan Clarke joined the Public Policy Forum as Senior Associate in July 2017 after serving over 30 years in the Public Service of Canada. Most recently, he held the position of Director General, Economic Research and Policy Development, Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada, where he was responsible for leading the development of the Federal Framework for Aboriginal Economic Development and innovative policy, program and legislative initiatives, including the First Nations Fiscal Management Act and the First Nations Commercial and Industrial Development Act. During his career he has had policy and programme responsibility across a wide range of issues, including Indigenous languages and culture, cultural industries, business development and financing, intellectual property and international trade. Allan is Anishinaabe with family roots on the Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve.
