Governments control an ever-increasing amount of data about citizens, public services and the world around us. From individual health records and school league tables, to weather maps and economic statistics, the range of government data is huge, and its potential uses are enormous.

Open data allows citizens to be more knowledgeable consumers of public services and to make better-informed choices. Whilst also helping to improve government effectiveness and accountability through transparency. But like private organisations, the challenge for governments is to get the most out of their data, in this case for the greater good.

Download our brief introduction to Open data, to discover how governments are rising to the challenge of data to make public impact and achieve positive outcomes for citizens.
