Transformation events have dominated the CPI's discourse recently.
This was the theme of the Public Chairs' Forum annual conference in the UK, supported by The Boston Consulting Group's Public Sector Practice. The Public Chairs' Forum represents around 60 public bodies and exists to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the delivery of public services in the United Kingdom.
The Centre for Public Impact's executive director, Adrian Brown, hosted a session on leading transformations and learning form international experience. Vikram Bhalla, head of BCG's Leadership and Training Enablement Centre in Singapore (LTEC) spoke via a video link about how leaders can lead successful transformation programmes.
We also joined prime ministers past and present, international business leaders, top academics and global opinion leaders at the Global Transformation Forum in Kuala Lumpur. Following keynote addresses from Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak and UNDP administrator Helen Clark, Adrian Brown, moderated the opening panel session of the conference. He was joined by leaders from around the world to discuss prioritisation and policymaking - “defining your true North”.
And in London we supported a new civil service initiative, Launchpad, which aims to help civil servants progress their ideas though new connections. Once connected, ideas are improved and refined and pitched to a board in government that will decide whether it can back the idea to become a reality. The event brought together experts in artificial intelligence, robotics and data science with civil servants to see how such advances could help progress ideas in government.
