The Centre for Public Impact (CPI) is a global nonpartisan, non-profit organization, launched by the Boston Consulting Group, that helps governments and their partners turn ideas into impact.  The CPI team in North America works to advance innovative solutions that lead to better outcomes for residents. We do this by being:

  • A trusted expert voice and source of insight on public impact and social innovation
  • A provider of practical tools and advice on how to deliver outcomes for residents
  • An executing partner to organizations seeking to drive public impact and social innovation

Through our Economic Mobility work, we aim to help governments and their partners develop strategies, programs, and tools to improve economic outcomes for the people they serve. We do this through original research and by creating interventions to improve economic opportunity in North America.

To that end, we are seeking an outstanding leader to help build and drive our Economic Mobility practice. The Program Leader will play a key leadership role in shaping CPI’s agenda during a pivotal transition period for our growing organization.



Programmatic Portfolio Management

  • In consultation with the CPI Director, North America, provide day-to-day oversight of CPI’s Economic Mobility  practice and associated projects
  • Within this portfolio, identify opportunities for new programs and manage their execution

People Management and Development

  • Directly manage and mentor a team of Associates, providing constructive, actionable feedback
  • Contribute to the growth and development of Associates, identifying and supporting stretch opportunities internally and externally

Strategy and Operations

  • Work with the CPI Director, North America, to refine the vision and strategy for expanding CPI’s influence and impact in North America, overseeing the strategic growth of the Economic Mobility practice
  • Manage the development of an operating plan and infrastructure to bring this strategy to fruition

Thought Leadership  

  • Research key trends and innovations in economic mobility, including how elements like education, employment, public supports, and financial systems work together to impact upward economic mobility
  • Drive efforts to ensure CPI North America remains at the cutting-edge and is positioned as the go-to source on information and insight on public impact in the region
  • Use networks and engagement with senior stakeholders to understand emerging trends and future topics relating to public impact and social innovation in North America
  • Form and lead partnerships to co-develop new materials including research papers and articles

Partnerships and Business Development  

  • Support the development of strategic partnerships that enable CPI to achieve its mission
  • Cultivate and maintain a network of senior stakeholders in partner organizations
  • Trial new models for partnerships in response to emerging opportunities and market trends



We are seeking a high-potential, impact-minded leader with:

  • At least 8 years of relevant professional experience, in either an impact, policy, or service-oriented environment, or a consulting environment
  • University degree with demonstrated high academic achievement in a relevant field (e.g., Public policy, economics, government, social entrepreneurship, human-centered design or similar). Higher level degree (MBA / MPP or similar) highly desirable
  • Demonstrable knowledge of and passion for public impact and improving economic mobility
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully managing projects and teams
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience developing people
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and manage senior-level stakeholder relationships
