We have a vacancy for a research intern at our rapidly-growing organisation.

You will work as part of CPI's Programme Team on our research and engagement projects related to government effectiveness. These include:

All of these programmes have strong research and engagement components. You will join a small team of former BCG strategy consultants and experienced professionals from other fields.

Activities may include:

  • Researching, drafting and producing reports and other products
  • Organising workshops with civil servants
  • Preparing engaging conference presentations
  • Managing and organising stakeholder outreach

This internship is open to students and graduates at different levels of academic study, including those in bachelor's, master's and PhD programmes. Applicants from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Relevant degrees may include, but are not limited to, political science, public administration, sociology, law, business, design, journalism and computer science.

We look for reliable individuals with:

  • An excellent academic record
  • A demonstrated interest in the workings of government
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • An aability communicate effectively verbally and in writing

This is a 2-3 month full-time position (40 hours per week) at CPI's offices in central London. You will be paid £2'000/month and will need to make your own housing, insurance, and transportation arrangements. Note that if applying from abroad, you should ensure that you meet the necessary visa requirements. CPI is unable to act as a sponsor or provide visa support.

The precise start date is negotiable. Relevant dates include:

  • We expect you to begin between 11 and 25 September 2017
  • The closing date for applying to this position is 26 July 2017
  • Interviews will be conducted the week of 31 July 2017 (interviews can be conducted via video, you do not need to be in London that week. Let us know if you are on vacation that week, we can likely work around that)

Our application process has two stages:

  • About you: Here we ask you for some personal details. This information will only become visible to us if you are shortlisted. All applications are assessed blind by multiple reviewers.
  • Short answer questions: Here we ask you to complete XXX questions about YYY. Each section has a 250 word limit. Once you have completed all these questions you will see a page with all your answers and have the opportunity to amend these before finally submitting your application.
